On January 18, the ceremony of 2011 Chinese Academy of Science Outstanding Technology Achievement Prize was held in Beijing, the Methanol to olefin research team led by professor Liu zhongmin of Dalian Institute of Chemical physics was awarded Chinese Academy of Science Outstanding Technology Achievement Prize.

Professor Liu zhongmin lead the research team conduct comprehensive fundamental and applied research for many years, reached lots of research achievements in methanol to olefin area. The world first commercial methanol to olefin plant utilizing DMTO technology developed by professor Liu zhongmin’s team was successfully started up in August 2010, and started to commercial running in January 2011. The successfully industrialization of DMTO technology has significant meaning for the energy security of our country and realized the country’s coal substitute petroleum strategy.

Chinese Academy of Science Outstanding Technology Achievement Prize was set up in 2002, is assessed in every two years. The first prize was awarded in 2003, and the prize is awarded to the outstanding research individuals and groups in five years, and each   prize is award to less than ten individuals and groups.
